Verité Annual China Conference

Since 1998, the Verité China Conference has allowed Verité to bring new issues to the attention of China-based factory managers and sourcing agents on a yearly basis. This program, which grew from 27 participants in 1998 to having enrollment capped at 150 in 2001, provides one day of intensive training for factory managers on labor law and code of conduct expectations, as well as practical advice on how to comply with both. Since 1998, Verité's China conferences held in various locations throughout the country, have provided participants with rare opportunities to meet with government officials and hear directly of the expectations of factories under Chinese law, in addition to learning how to establish the management systems needed for code of conduct compliance. For North American and European companies that have sponsored the event, Verité's China conferences have provided an excellent opportunity to help their suppliers understand clearly the “nuts and bolts” demands of social compliance and to secure their cooperation in the process.
