Case Studies
CSR Program Implementation: A Factory Experience
Like many factories in China, Shanghai Changjiang first implemented social compliance program under pressure from its buyer-clients. As more program knowledge and experience were acquired, and with integration into the factory’s management systems and processes, the company is now reaping the benefits of social compliance - - sustained growth, satisfied clients and motivated employees.
The case of Shanghai Changjiang shows that CSR has made headway in China. The case study was presented during the recent Verité China Suppliers Conference 2005 held in Shenzhen, China. It represents a best practice in CSR program implementation by a factory. The conference was attended by over 130 representatives from factories, sourcing agents and brands engaged mainly in the apparel and shoes industries. Click here to read the study.
Mainstreaming Social Compliance: CSR Program Implementation in the Supply Chain
Social compliance program implementation is most effective when all participants in the supply chain are involved - - from the buyer, to the agent, to the workers on the factory floor. The case study documents innovative approaches adopted by J & M Co., Ltd. to address some social compliance issues in China including work hours, social insurance benefits, and program implementation costs.
The case study was presented during the recent Verité China Suppliers Conference 2005, held in Shenzhen, China. It represents a best practice in CSR program implementation by a sourcing agent that is acting as a conduit between a buyer (brand) and a supplier (factory) in the supply chain. The conference was attended by over 130 representatives from factories, sourcing agents and brands engaged mainly in the apparel and shoes industries. Click here to read the study.
