Planning for Impact: Translating Social Responsibility into Good Business Practice

Our solutions-oriented training and consulting programs are designed to build practical knowledge and skills wherever decisions are being made along the supply chain, including among:

      • Workers
      • Supervisors
      • Factory Managers and Owners
      • Supplier Training Staff
      • Auditors
      • Sourcing Agents
      • Buyers
      • Quality Assurance
      • Designers
      • SR Program Managers
      • Civil Society Advocates
      • Government Staff

Our programs illuminate and bridge gaps in strategies, systems and know-how for charting the smartest path for tackling obstacles, deepening commitment to SR values, clearing visibility to practices that impact workers, create “upstream” plans for continuous improvement, and empower workers to participate in solutions.

All of our workshops are based on formal needs assessments, are customizable and are highly experiential. Our teaching methodology is rooted in adult-learning principles and include a combination of structured learning exercises, presentation, panel discussion, case study analysis, small group work, role play, open discussion and live factory-based practicum where possible.

Verité Lead Auditor Training: Advanced Assessment Skills

Our highly interactive five-day workshop (formerly RAISE 1500) builds on the experiences of participants to strengthen their skills in identifying, validating, analyzing and addressing workplace conditions. The course cuts across sectors and regions by focusing on how rather than what to look for in assessing management systems and performance gaps at the facility level. Learning objectives: ►Assess level of conformance to standards, ►Establish the direct causes of performance gaps, ►Understand and communicate steps needed to close gaps, ►Develop a corrective action plan.

EICC-GeSI Labor & Ethics Lead Auditor Training

Analysis & Problem Solving: Lead Auditor as Change Agent

Our APS course introduces the knowledge and skills auditors need to help factory managers analyze performance gaps and their root causes and to identify solutions that are not only the right thing to do, but the best possible option given a factory’s unique business and social considerations. Learning objectives: ►Understanding and evaluating management systems, ►problem analysis, problem solving and decision making, ►performance improvement planning, implementing solutions and systems improvements and ►group facilitation skills.

Supplier Development: Assessing and Building Socially Responsible Management Systems

Traditional SR programs fall short of creating real change for factories and their workers if they are brand-driven, top-down, problem-finding, perceived as policing, reactive and costly. Verité’s Supplier Development course for lead auditors and factory management is designed to bridge these pitfalls by focusing on the need to: ►Understand how suppliers and factories operate and why problems happen ►Support suppliers in problem-solving ►Find solutions that are doable and durable ►Bring better alignment for better Code performance.

Buyers & Designers Courses on Socially Responsible Decision-Making

Designers, buyers, merchandisers and product/category managers are sensitized to the potential impacts of their decisions on working conditions in producing facilities. The modules draw on customized research into the life cycle of iconic brand products with the focus on risks to labor, ethics and environmental conditions and options for lessening negative impacts.

Red Flagging for Quality Assurance & Buyers

This workshop series deepens the understanding of QA, Procurement and other non-CSR staff of the company Code, high-risk workplace issues and models for identifying and reporting red flags. Participants develop a clear sense of the ways in which they, often as the “front line” of supply chain management, can support their company’s CSR program goals.

Social Responsibility and the Code of Conduct Orientation Seminars

Suppliers come to understand a brand’s Code standards and expectations proactively, before a potentially costly audit cycle begins. The course translates the Code into concrete benchmarks, common obstacles to compliance, how to self-assess and address gaps for a successful business partnership.

Code of Conduct: Issues-Focused Workshops

Our capacity-building workshops for management, supervisors and workers build on understanding of the Code to introduce specific knowledge and skills needed to address specific areas of concern identified in audits and to achieve social and environmental compliance standards on a sustainable basis. Topics include: Wages & Benefits, Overtime, Freedom of Association, Building a Positive Work Environment, Health & Safety

Analysis & Problem Solving For Factory Managers and CSR Staff
