In the information age, there is a vast quantity of research that sits on government shelves, lingers in libraries, or floats in cyberspace, but is never put to use. Verité engages in policy advocacy so as to increase the possibility that the findings of our rigorous research projects result in tangible improvements. Verité recognizes the importance of stakeholder buy-in in ensuring the creation of viable policy recommendations, as well as their implementation.  Read about some of our policy advocacy initiatives:

Verité has outlined the steps needed to be taken by governments, employers, corporations, factories and social monitoring firms to ensure that migrant laborers from Southeast Asia are protected from labor abuses.

Verité has undertaken a detailed look at the causes and impacts of excessive overtime among Chinese workers in the export sector.  Our studies for the first time brought out workers’ own views on hours and wages.

Offers a ranking of 27 emerging markets countries using a quantitative assessment that employs 42 indicators of labor standards compliance – the first such framework of its kind to be used for investment purposes.

 

Tools for Tracking Progress

With support from the US Department of Labor, Verité developed tools to track country progress toward compliance with international labor standards and has trained U.S. Foreign Service Labor Officers in the use of the tools.

 

Improving Labor Conditions in IT in India
